Love that Jimmy exemplifies the windows part of Rudine Sims Bishop's framework of picturebooks. The role that books play in his life to open up his mind to another world (that of boxing - though Mohammed Ali) does not fall by the way side even as he never gets to leave the island to become a famous boxer - but instead takes up the mentor role of boxing trainer - AND librarian. This librarian passes the vibe check.
