Freefall / David Wiesner

  • HarperCollins

  • 1988

  • A young boy dreams of daring adventures in the company of imaginary creatures inspired by the things surrounding his bed.

  • Wordless books like Wiesner's are wonderful for letting kids use their own imaginations to tell what the story is based on what they see in pictures.

  • I LOVE WIESNER. The dreamscape of Freefall is a perfect setting for his imagination. I really enjoyed reading the pictures, and having to flip back and forth as something I hadn't noticed in the background of one scene came to the forefront on the very next page. I had fun studying the last page when the boy wakes up to see if I could find all the elements of his dream in his bedroom. Wiesner does a good job with a crazy dream with out making it uncanny or creepy.
