I could have spent a long, long time looking at Long's illustrations. In almost every page, while there was the connection to the love written about in the main text, there were also other instances of love. The father and daughter dancing together on the trailer roof enjoying a summer evening ... but then also the mom washing dishes in a labor of love below. The old lady who talks about stars with the little girl to take her mind off the apartment fire... but also the couples huddled together sharing strength while the firefighters work. This book glows with warmth!
