• Wiesner's wordless books borrow so much from graphic novels. The frame by frame storytelling at the beginning and end sets up the fantastical photo album (including black backgrounds, like an old fashioned photo album!) in the middle. The fantastical "photographs" yield some lovely visual puns, like the lanternfish in the lampshades shedding light for the octopus family, or the "flying" fish in the pufferfish hot air balloon.
