Grandpa Green / Lane Smith
Roaring Brook Press

Grandpa Green wasn't always a gardener. He was a farmboy and a kid with chickenpox and a soldier and, most of all, an artist. In this captivating new picture book, readers follow Grandpa Green's great-grandson into a garden he created, a fantastic world where memories are handed down in the fanciful shapes of topiary trees and imagination recreates things forgotten. - From Amazon
Family History - Memory Loss
I read this book through twice - once looking at the topiary that told the story of Grandpa's history - and once looking at the little boy gathering up all the things Grandpa left behind. What a sweet and gentle story that gives honor to our elder family members and treats them with compassion as they age and begin to lose memories. Especially poignant as I live with an aging grandparent.
